World: FOWD

My bosses had nice idea to take all the team of Studio Melipone to Future of Web Design (FOWD is its nickname) organized by Carsonified. FOWD stand by The Brewery in London (great place) from 16 till 18 May.

I tell you immediatly, it was really fun!

First of all, because we were a sponsor and we had a stand dedicated to UpShot. But also because we organized a competition with hard hats (yes, yes, you read Hard hat!!). Each participant received a white helmet and had to customize it with Poscas, felts and others. I did my own hard hat but compared to the webdesigners’ ones, mine was not that cool At the end of these two days of FOWD, we voted for the winners who received great stuff(see photo).

The coolest things were the talks. During these two days, there are many speakers on various topics. The room was huge with giant screens and especially …. full of pouffes !! For the first time, I attended to a non austere conference where I am roasting for three hours on small uncomfortable chairs! (I just exaggerate a little^ ^)!

I have to admit I didn’t understand everything. Some Conferences were more “technical”, as my colleagues said, and others were more general and more accessible. But the one I really liked was the Conference of Aral Balkan! It combines humour and simplicity, it get straight to the point.

Finally, it was amazing, it is that Studio Melipone made Talk!! We chose to talk about customer’s management with humour (the subject was zombies and yes “humor of geek “). Slides are available here: http://www.slideshare.net/jbfeldis/zombie-hater-clients-from-hell-fowd-london-11

During two days, I intrude in this world I didn’t know. The world of «IT», as I call it, but at an international level this time. It was funny to note that at the conference everyone had his computer or his IPhone switched. Also, whether you place it where Twitter was all the same because everyone tweets every two seconds was what happened during show (and yes, it’s beauty of social networks).

Finally I would like to warn you about something !

I didn’t mention the conference meals. In general it was pretty good with a large choice of dishes. But BEWARE, never, never test the “Crostini Marmite” except if you have the ability to (I mean capabilities intrinsic for the English people who like that)!

Very nice meetings, a pleasant and interesting talks FOWD!
