UpShot is free for students and schools

Okay, I might have sold the concept in the title so… sorry, I guess, for all suspense and buzz and whatever. We just wanted to remind you all that since the beginning we offered UpShot for free to students and schools. Why? Because it’s cool, because they need to learn how to deal with clients early, because we believe it’s the best long-term strategy :)

Seen this link on Forrst this weekend, CSS Pivot is simple, well done and has a real potential if use it right before sending a screenshot to UpShot (with our Safari or Chrome extensions).

Yesterday @carsonified tweeted this little one to announce our tiny (but supa cool) sponsorship of Future Of Web Design London (16-18 May 2011).

Summer (Startup) Love

Sometimes I think it’s crazy how we don’t manage to write here! Especially when there are great posts here and there. Marketing guys rocking?… pffff…

Ok, we have lots of work to do, and we try really hard to be on time. But, HEY, wake up man “You need to tell people what you’re doing”.

Okayyy, I’ll do that. Starting now.

Studio Melipone is kinda “back to basics”, we’re back into what we call “Startup Mode”. It means that we are focusing on building our own things. No client work untill September. You know what? It tastes good, damn good. Of course our clients kick ass but right now, the whole team, 6 people, is working to achieve the same goal: create!

Business cards [30%]

Nicolas, our new intern, is searching/trying/photoshoping hard to design our new business cards. They’ll certainly be closely related to our new website btw. Design and… rock’n’roll.

StudioMelipone.eu [20%]

Speaking of our website: we updated it last week. It’s still… well… not perfect. But it’s a bit better as you can see our last work. We’ve got ideas for the new design and we’ve got some fucking amazing stuff for the backend.

Tumbulus.com [70%]

Nestor is back into business baby! We added great stuff like a powerful theming system and some new calls. We are now done with the website design (still well hidden behind the beta page but not for long) minus the storytelling and we are working on the app redesign and UX. We hope you’ll love it (and the Tumblr guys too ^^). I (Jean-Baptiste) am mostly taking care of the project.

It’s harder to consider the percentage in the case of UpShot because it’s our most complex and advanced product and still… there are so many things to do!

Step1 could be seen as “fixing bugs and adding (a few, but highly valuable) new features”. Greg is working on fixes and performance optimization (caching, monitoring and so on) while Rémy and Clément are working on the new features. What? You wanna know what features…

Hum…

Ok, I give you one: archival. We now have a nice archival system for your upshots, it’s, well, 90% ready. That means it’s working great but we need to work on the UX/design. Design and UX are Step2 matters. And Step3… No I can’t tell about Step3 right now!

SecretStuff [95%]

Last but not least! Romain is working on a brand new project we still can’t speak of. It’s gonna be launched in a few days right now so you’ll learn more on that soon. What I can say is that: it’s beautiful, simple and… we had lots of fun working on it. And in a way (but that’s matter for another post) it’s a real step for Studio Melipone.
